Closure of a succesfull project in Mali
by Marjan Schaapman on 16 December, 2016

If possible, we try not only to coordinate our projects at a distance, but also to visit them. From October 5 thru 11, 2016 Paul Sutmuller, our treasurer, visited several projects of GAAS-Mali.

The projects the Van Doorn Foundation undertook together with the local organization aimed at improving education in Noukoula, including by making education more accessible to girls. To achieve this, the Van Doorn Foundation and GAAS Mali had chosen for a holistic approach, tackling the problem with a number of small projects. Three additional classrooms have been built, child-friendly latrines constructed, a water well drilled, and awareness built about hygiene, a greenhouse built and have pupils and their parents been coached in cultivating vegetables with a drip irrigation system.

Paul visited the projects in Noukoula, located about 150 km east of Bamako on 6 October and received a very warm welcome!
