Paul and Petra visit Eastern Africa
by Petra Sutmuller on 15 December, 2013

From October 6 to 25, 2013, Paul and Petra paid a visit to current and new projects in eastern Africa. “It was an inspiring journey! ........

The trip started in Tanzania, with a visit to the project in Kigoma. The vocational training centre of the Hope for Community Foundation – which is established with funding from Share4More / Rabobank – is very successful!.........

Then 3 projects for which we had received an application for funding were visited. After the visit all 3 applications have been approved, based on what we saw. On the website you can find comprehensive information about these projects: the establishment of the MULEBA Vocational Centre in Tanzania, the building of a vocational training centre in Kyobugombe, Uganda and the project LOSUP Greenhouse in Lambwe Valley, Kenya..........

The trip was concluded in Nairobi, Kenya. The renovation of the "Outering High School" appeared to be practically completed. One classroom still needs to be furnished and we decided to take care of it immediately...........

The last stop was the ITF (International Transformation Foundation), an organisation which is active in establishing an information centre for youngsters in the form a library and a computer centre. The target group is initially aiming at students preparing for their final exam and students who are in need of extra support. The initiative came from young, creative and enthusiastic academics, who work as volunteers in the district. The Van Doorn Foundation will support the ITF at a process of designing various scenarios with corresponding feasibility analyses.”
